JO 90's, Stilikonen der 90er
ARTFLASH editions, Berlin, 2020
The German concept artist Jurgen Ostarhild met Moby for a shoot in London's South Kensington in 1991, so at exactly the right time. Ostarhild took photos for the British lifestyle magazine “i-D”, which was a trendsetter in terms of imagery and typography. He used the snapshot as a serious means of photography and created relentless, sometimes extremely brightly lit portraits of great proximity and intensity. The musicians Jamiroquai and Air, the fashion designers John Galliano and Nicolas Ghesquière or the supermodel Kate Moss, then a tender 18 years old, they all had Ostarhild photographed them. The result is style-defining portraits that authentically and unfiltered transport the spirit of the 90s into the present.

That festive, dance-mad, hedonistic decade at the end of the 20th century
- one of its soundtracks is definitely by Moby.
