With the project "Poetry of the Heart", Ostarhild explores the connection between the symbolic heart and the digital world in 2024. The heart as a symbol of emotions and love has a long history in the cultural history of humanity. It is used in various cultural contexts and time periods.
Originally, the heart was considered the seat of feelings and emotions in ancient times.
This idea found expression in the art of the Romans and Greeks, where the heart was a central motif in mythology and art. Nowadays, the heart symbol has made the transition to the digital world and has become a popular meme. It has evolved from a traditional, art-historical motif to a global sign of emotions. People use the heart symbol in the form of emojis, GIFs and images to express their feelings and communicate with others online.
Ostarhild now uses modern technology and the Internet to create a connection between his physical heart and the digital world. With the support of MySmartHeart AG (Zurich), data on heart rhythms, heart stimulations and emotional reactions are rendered as digital heart simulations using data trackers and his own ColorHueState software. This data is then displayed as a live stream or on LED screens in the form of color fields.
In this way, the artist's emotional world is not to be expressed in words or figurative art, but to be visualized directly in color fields. The art project "Poetry of my Heart" explores the possibilities of digital communication, its forms of expression and the connection between art, technology and emotions.
